#3 JFF: Our first homemade Playdough play!

In Just For Fun (JFF), me and my daughters will be doing a random FUN activity! Most ideas are sourced from great mommies and teachers out there online and in books tho some came right form my not so creative mind. They are so fun insyaAllah you will definitely be tempted to try them out with your lil ones! Be sure to link up or leave a comment if you do coz I would love to hear your side of fun! :)

I would very much love to try out the Best Playdough Recipe (as sworn by a lot of mommies), but unfortunately I did not have the tartar on hand. So in the end, we have to settle for this simple yet still great Salt playdough recipe.

Ingredients:
1 cup of salt
1 cup of water
2 cups of flour
1 tablespoon of cooking oil
Instructions:
Mix the salt, flour, oil, & water together.
We had only 2 colors:

Let's get busy and messy!
Cheeky was busy too! Messing up!

'Tools' we tried to use!

Lil Miss Cheeky wasn't going to miss out on the fun!

Snip it! Pound it! Roll it! Stomp it! Experimenting with it in every way she could!

We are definitely going to try out the best recipe next!

World's Best Playdough Recipe
1 cup white flour
1/4 cup of salt
2 tsps cream of tartar

#2 JFF: Back to village @ Terengganu - Sensory activity

In Just For Fun (JFF), me and my daughters will be doing a random FUN activity! Most ideas are sourced from great mommies and teachers out there online and in books tho some came right form my not so creative mind. They are so fun insyaAllah you will definitely be tempted to try them out with your lil ones! Be sure to link up or leave a comment if you do coz I would love to hear your side of fun! :)

There is a front yard at Nyang's house, where we stay everytime we are back at Abah's hometown. Me and Kakak decided to 'explore' it.

I thought there might be things that could be collected and talked about. So we went on looking for something to hold them. Finally we found a cracked pail. Perfect!

And exploration began..
That's the pail and things are filled in
Happy hunting!

Items laid out, touched, smelled and tasted. Among them are a twig, a rock, different coloured leaves, kaffir leaves, a lime, dried leaf...

Lime tasting..lol!
We love sensory activities! They are definitely hands-on, fun and never fail to spark the little one's curiosity.  There are tons of great ideas out there I would love to try. Especially the sensory tubs. Awesome!

#1 JFF: Ice Colour Painting

In Just For Fun (JFF), me and my daughters will be doing a random FUN activity! Most ideas are sourced from great mommies and teachers out there online and in books. They are so fun you will definitely be tempted to try them out with your lil ones! Be sure to link up if you do coz I would love to hear your side of fun! :)

Few days ago we did our dyed paper-towel craft. After we were done I realized that we still have much of the colours left. So I poured them into shaped ice trays and froze them. Here was what we did yesterday:

Things needed are the IceColour and paper. We used watercolour paper .

princess @ work!

It sure is cold! Perfect activity for the hot weather!

Ice + Kids = FUN! Pin It

Uninvited squatters

Went back to my hometown last weekend for several days. Came back and found these in the guest room upstairs!

Abah put them in a box and put it on the porch, but the mummy carried them back to the room..sigh

We already have a cat. I think that is already enough of an added responsibility for me. I am so not the pet owner kind of person.

So I have to say no to them, sorry! Will have to find a place for them soon. Coz they have started to pee and poop in the room!

Easy Peasy Dragonfly

This is by far the easiest craft Kakak and me had done together.

All you need are:
A pair of wooden disposable chopstick
A pair of googly eyes
Pipe cleaners

Steps:
1. Paint the chopsticks. We used green!
2. Glue on the googly eyes.
3. Tape on the pipe cleaners for wings. Done!

It doesn't matter how easy and simple the things you are doing with your child. The thing that matter most is doing it with them! and do not forget to insert FUN!

Dyed Paper-towel Butterflies and Flower

Things you will need:
Paper towel
Food colouring
Pipe cleaners
Too bad we didn't have more colours...Only purple, red and yellow.
Focusing on folding up her paper

All by herself! Tadaa!
How to:
1. Take a piece of paper towel and fold it up into a small square. (we fold it up 4 times)
2. Dip it into the colours. (watch the video below)
3. Open up the paper, you can see the paper is dyed and pretty now.
4. Left it to dry.
5. Once dried, scrunch up the middle and tie it up with the pipe cleaner. Done!

We also made a flower using 2 pcs of paper

Working with children, its always important to make all the preparations beforehand. We wouldn't want to 'kill' their excitement waiting. Demonstrate once on how its going to be done, and you will be amazed at how quick they learned.
Pictures and video are not of good quality as forgetful Mama left the camera cable at Grandma's, and so now we have to rely on the Ipad. Pin It

#1 THEME : Insects and spiders

Slowly progressing on our first theme. Honestly, our homeschool is not yet in full swing. I wouldn't dare say I am homeschooling my daughter yet. A lot of things to be planned, organized, prepared. I am still feeling bit lost and scattered. There are just too much awesome ideas and superbly creative activities on homeschooling, its both overwhelming and exciting!

Realizing that we will get to nowhere if I were to keep on researching for the best instead of slowly implementing some into action, I have decided to start it off with what Kakak love to do best. ART and CRAFT!

I have decided to go with thematic approach. To me themes are great! We can prepare our lessons focusing on them. It made more sense and the learning feels more natural as the areas of the curriculum link together.

It is, after all, how we, as adults, learn new things. Don't we start at what interest us and branch out from it?

So here are what we have done in summary, will be updating more as this theme is still ongoing:

I dare say that 90% were done by Kakak. We used mostly discarded items, or call them junks if you like. For example, our ladybug's body was made from the take-away drink holder at McDonald's! Its a great way to recycle, isnt it?
I simply love the beam on her face whenever she finishes her projects. Simply priceless.
